Dear customers,
As you probably know, last year the EU banned the use of Titanium Dioxide (E171 or TiO2) for use as an food additive, a food whitener that greatly affects our sector, for use in food in the EU.
So companies have had about a year so far to develop new formulas to replace their white and glossy paints and generally their products that contained this ingredient.
From August 7th 2022, the production of foodstuffs containing E171 will be completely banned, while stocks that has been purchased until then by wholesalers will be allowed to be traded, used and consumed until their expiration date.
Several companies have already alternative products ready, mostly based on Calcium Carbonate (E170) which is also good for our organism as opposed to Titanium Dioxide (E171).
We have already imported several products and we have even more in planned.
The products affected are:
- White colors in all forms,
- Glimmer powders like all gold, silver, white and generally all lustre dusts,
- Kopyform Decora plus printing sheets,
- all the shiny pearls
- All Bleaching Powders (Whiteners)
- and many more.
We will be keeping you informed as they come so that you can always find alternatives since at some point later in the year the conventional stocks will run out.
So far, our imports concern the following items, that we will release as stocks of conventional products finish while some others will be released simultaneously so that you can start experimenting and adjusting your recipes for the upcoming change:
